Chicago-Area Man Wins $1,000,001 And Plans To Surprise His Kids With A New Home

A Chicago-area music producer won $1,000,001 and plans to surprise his children with a new home while investing in equipment for his business.

A Chicago-area music producer is planning a major surprise for his children after winning a total of $1,000,001, with a new family home at the top of his list.

The anonymous winner, who calls himself “Music Man”, was playing through the Illinois Lottery’s iLottery platform when he discovered that he had won the Lucky Day Lotto jackpot. He said his usual prizes were much smaller, often just enough to break even, making the discovery particularly unexpected.

“So you can imagine my surprise when I saw I’d won the Lucky Day Lotto jackpot. It felt completely unreal,” he said.

The winning ticket matched all five numbers, 19-28-30-40-42, in the January 4 Lucky Day Lotto evening drawing, securing the $1 million jackpot. He also won an additional $1 by matching two numbers on a separate line, bringing his total prize to $1,000,001.

Before telling his wife, Music Man double-checked the Illinois Lottery app to make sure the result was correct.

“I was in bed and told her right away,” he recalled. “She said, ‘What, are you serious? No way!’”

When it came time to consider what he would do with the money, his focus quickly turned to his family.

“My family means everything to me,” he said. “I plan to surprise my kids with a new house. After all, their birthday numbers landed me the jackpot.”

Alongside the plans for his children, Music Man also intends to put some of the money into his career. As a music producer, he plans to invest in new equipment that will support and help grow his business.

For the Chicago-area winner, the unexpected prize therefore comes with both a family goal and a professional opportunity: surprising his children with a new home while investing in the work he has built as a music producer.
