Fairfield, Iowa, woman Deb Rotenburger won a $100,000 Iowa Lottery prize and plans to use the winnings to pay off her mortgage.
A Fairfield, Iowa, woman had to check her winning ticket more than once before she could believe she had uncovered a $100,000 prize.
Deb Rotenburger said she was shaking so badly after scratching the ticket that she could hardly make sure what she was seeing was real. She had purchased the winning ticket for the Iowa Lottery’s “The Price is Right” scratch game at Jet Stop, 121 S. Highway 1 in Birmingham.
After returning home, Rotenburger scratched the ticket and revealed the $100,000 top prize.
“I was too excited to even think,” she said.
Rotenburger said she looked at the ticket more than once before taking it to her son. She asked him, “Is this real?” The two of them then looked at the ticket together and confirmed that the prize matched.
Rotenburger later travelled to the Iowa Lottery’s Cedar Rapids regional office to claim her prize.
The Fairfield woman said she already has a plan for the money: paying off her mortgage.
