Fort Nelson, British Columbia resident Sandra F. won $675,000 after scratching a Set for Life ticket she had left untouched for several days.
A Fort Nelson, British Columbia resident had to get her family to check her scratch ticket after she struggled to believe she had won the top prize of $675,000.
Sandra F. had bought a Set for Life Scratch & Win ticket but left it sitting for a few days. One night, after her family had gone to bed, she decided to finally scratch it.
When she saw the result, Sandra did not immediately believe that she had won.
“My family had gone to bed and I saw the ticket had been sitting there a few days, so I decided to scratch it,” recalled Sandra. “I didn’t believe that I’d won, so I put it in a drawer and brought it out the next day to have my family check it!”
Sandra used the BCLC Lotto! App to check the ticket, but her husband and two sons also read the instructions and confirmed that the ticket was indeed a winner.
The Fort Nelson resident is now planning to surprise the rest of her family with “a little celebration” to mark the unexpected win.
She is taking some time to decide exactly what she will do with the money, but says she plans to save and invest some of her winnings while also helping her family.
Asked how it feels to win, Sandra described the experience simply as “amazing and exciting.”
The Set for Life top prize can be taken as $1,000 per week for 25 years or as a single lump-sum payment of $675,000.
Sandra purchased the winning ticket at I.D.A. on 50 Avenue North in Fort Nelson.
