Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, man Guy Charrois wins $100,000 and plans to pay off his cabin, enjoy an upcoming vacation and buy a new car.
Guy Charrois of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, is celebrating a $100,000 prize after discovering his winning ticket was worth considerably more than he initially expected.
Charrois said he has a very specific approach when buying lottery tickets: he only purchases a Classic Pack. After buying his winning LOTTO MAX ticket, he discovered the prize when he scanned it using the Lotto Spot app.
“When I scanned it, I said to my wife, ‘I won some money!’ and she said, ‘What? $20?’” Charrois said with a laugh. “Then I showed her and she couldn’t believe it.”
The $100,000 win comes as Charrois already has a vacation on the horizon. He said the prize means they will be able to enjoy some additional extras on the trip while also putting the money towards some significant financial goals.
“We are going on a vacation soon, and we might be able to indulge more,” he said. “Then we’re going to pay off our cabin and I’m going to purchase a brand-new car!”
For Charrois, the win also brought a sense of relief.
“It feels awesome and is just a relief!” he said.
Charrois purchased the winning LOTTO MAX ticket from 7-Eleven at 7802 95A Avenue in Fort Saskatchewan. He won the $100,000 prize in the May 29 LOTTO MAX draw by matching the selection 2, 4, 14, 22, 30, 47 and 50.
