A North Vancouver, British Columbia couple won a $500,000 Extra prize in the September 9, 2026 Lotto 6/49 draw after checking their ticket several times.
A North Vancouver, British Columbia couple are still coming to terms with a $500,000 Extra prize after discovering their ticket was a winner in the September 9, 2026 Lotto 6/49 draw.
Waldemar S. realised the couple had won after scanning their ticket using the BCLC Lotto! App. He was so unsure of what he was seeing that he scanned it several times before calling his partner, Jackquiline.
“I had to scan a few times, just to make sure before I called Jackquiline,” Waldemar recalled. “I never win anything, so it was hard to believe! I was so happy when I called her and she was too!”
The couple, who are from North Vancouver, said they are still in shock following the win and have not yet decided what they will do with the money.
“It’s unbelievable, honestly! We’re happy!” said Jackquiline.
The winning ticket was purchased at a lottery kiosk at Park Royal in West Vancouver, British Columbia.
For now, the couple are simply taking in the unexpected $500,000 windfall while they consider what comes next.
