Kelvington, Saskatchewan, woman Asha Bishop won $600,000 and plans to take her son shopping, while also considering a car and family vacation.
Asha Bishop of Kelvington, Saskatchewan, has already decided what she wants to do first after winning $600,000: take her young son shopping for some toys he wants.
Bishop initially discovered that her THE BIGGER SPIN Scratch & Win ticket had won $10,000. She had purchased the ticket while out with her son and said she did not immediately realise the significance of what she had won.
“I took my little boy to the park on the same day I purchased the ticket,” Bishop said during her initial prize claim interview. “He was running around the store, so I didn’t have time to process the win—I thought maybe I won a t-shirt or something at first.”
Bishop also discovered that she had won a Spin Win, giving her the opportunity to play the THE BIGGER SPIN wheel at a live event.
“I was in shock,” she said. “[The display] said ‘Major Winner,’ and I was just thinking ‘Oh cool!’ I didn’t think I’d be winning ten grand!”
On June 5, Bishop stepped up to the wheel with family and friends watching and won a $600,000 prize.
After the spin, she said her first priority would be making sure her son gets something he wants.
“I’m going to take my son shopping and get him some toys that he wants!” Bishop said.
The Kelvington woman is also considering how she might use the rest of the money. She said she will probably buy a car and would like to take her family on a vacation.
Despite the plans already taking shape, Bishop said the size of the prize has not fully sunk in yet.
“It doesn’t feel real yet!” she said.
Bishop purchased her THE BIGGER SPIN Scratch & Win ticket from the Co-op at 201 1 Ave W in Kelvington.
