Mississauga Woman Checks Her Account While on the Treadmill and Finds a $2.5 Million Surprise

A Mississauga, Ontario healthcare worker was on the treadmill when she discovered a $2.5 million LOTTO 6/49 win and began thinking about more time with family.

Elizabeth was in the middle of an ordinary workout at home in Mississauga, Ontario, when she logged into her account and came across something that was anything but ordinary: she had won $2.5 million.

The healthcare worker has been playing the lottery with OLG for around 20 years, usually choosing LOTTO 6/49 and LOTTO MAX numbers that have personal significance to her. Those familiar numbers had never brought her a major prize before, but this time they changed everything.

Elizabeth was on the treadmill when she decided to check her OLG.ca account.

“I was at home on the treadmill when I logged into my OLG.ca account and saw that I’d won,” she said while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her winnings.

Her first reaction was not immediate excitement. Instead, she was sceptical and wanted to make absolutely sure she was reading the result correctly.

Elizabeth and her husband went through the winning numbers together. As they began to realise that the $2.5 million prize was real, they could only look at each other in disbelief.

“As we realized what was happening, we looked at each other, saying, ‘What?’” Elizabeth recalled.

The surprise was enough to keep her awake afterwards, with her mind racing as she tried to process what had happened.

For Elizabeth, however, the biggest change is not simply the amount of money in her account. It is the breathing room she says the win could give her and her family.

“It’s starting to feel more real, and I’m getting emotional. I never expected anything like this,” she said.

Elizabeth said the win means she can take a deep breath and prioritise spending time with her family, which she considers the most important thing.

“I’m filled with gratitude and optimistic about the future,” she said.

Her plans for the $2.5 million are already taking shape. Elizabeth intends to invest the money for the future, while also sharing the news with her family and planning a fun adventure for everyone to enjoy together.

The winning LOTTO 6/49 ticket was purchased through OLG.ca.
