Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, resident Leslie M. won $1 million after scratching a ticket in a store parking lot and remains in disbelief over the unexpected prize.
Leslie M. of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, is still coming to terms with a $1 million prize after scratching a ticket in a store parking lot and discovering he had won the top prize.
Leslie purchased a $10 $1,000,000 Ultra Scratch & Win ticket at Family Milk on Coast Meridian Road in Port Coquitlam. He scratched the ticket while still in the store’s parking lot.
“I was in the parking lot of the store and I scratched the ticket,” Leslie recalled. “I was so bewildered, so I decided to put [the ticket] in the [self-scanner] inside the store.”
After validating the ticket inside the store, Leslie headed straight home, still trying to process what had happened.
The surprise was so fresh that, when he later claimed his prize, Leslie had not yet shared the news with anyone.
“I’m still in shock!” he said.
Asked how it felt to win, Leslie described the experience simply as “Disbelief.”
“I won’t believe it until I get to the bank,” he said.
For Leslie, the $1 million prize remains difficult to comprehend, even after the winning ticket was validated.
