Burnaby, BC resident Wing Wah C. won $2 million in the July 4, 2026 BC/49 draw and plans to use the winnings to buy a new home for his family.
A Burnaby, British Columbia man was left wondering whether his tablet was showing the wrong information after he discovered that he had won $2 million in the July 4, 2026 BC/49 draw.
Wing Wah C. checked his ticket using the BCLC Lotto! App, expecting the kind of small prize he was accustomed to seeing. Instead, the screen showed $2 million.
His first reaction was to question whether the tablet was correct.
“On my tablet, I checked [the ticket] using the BCLC Lotto! App,” Wing Wah recalled. “The first thing that came to my mind was maybe the tablet was wrong. Usually I see $1 or $10, so to see $2 million was new!”
The Burnaby resident then shared the news with his wife, who was very excited about the unexpected win.
For Wing Wah, the money already has a practical purpose in mind. He plans to use his winnings to buy a new house, with more space for his family.
“I’m really excited for more space for my family,” he said.
Even after discovering the size of the prize, Wing Wah said the experience still does not feel entirely real.
“It still feels like I’m dreaming. It doesn’t feel real.”
The winning ticket was purchased at PriceSmart Foods on Austin Road in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.
