Norfolk, Virginia truck driver Kim White won $255,000 and plans to pay off his house, become debt-free and celebrate his mother’s upcoming birthday.
A Norfolk, Virginia truck driver is still coming to terms with a $255,000 win after one of two tickets he purchased for the July 12 Cash 5 with EZ Match drawing turned out to be the jackpot winner.
Kim White purchased the tickets at Subtrack Food Mart at 5369 E. Princess Anne Road in Norfolk, and checked the winning numbers after the drawing with his fiancée.
The news came as a shock to both of them.
“I’m still in shock,” White told Virginia Lottery officials. “We couldn’t sleep last night. We tossed and turned and everything.”
White had used Easy Pick when purchasing his tickets, allowing the computer to randomly select the numbers. The winning numbers for the July 12 drawing were 1, 12, 26, 39 and 43.
One of White’s two tickets matched the winning combination, earning him a $255,000 jackpot.
The professional truck driver already has a clear idea of how he wants to use the unexpected money. His plans include paying off his house, eliminating his debts and helping make his mother’s upcoming birthday a special one.
“It’s really a blessing,” White said.
For now, however, White is still adjusting to the reality of becoming $255,000 richer and joking that he is ready to embrace his newfound celebrity status.
