Quebec Man Wins $1 Million and Goes Straight to Work to Quit His Job

Capitale-Nationale, Quebec, man Guy Perreault won $1 million and went to work at 5:30 a.m. to tell his boss he was retiring.

Guy Perreault had a very different reason for arriving at work at 5:30 a.m. after discovering he had won $1 million.

The Capitale-Nationale, Quebec, resident won the Extra top prize in the June 24, 2026 draw. After confirming his prize, Perreault went straight to his workplace to tell his boss that he was retiring.

Perreault discovered the win early the morning after the draw when he checked his ticket. At first, he thought he had won $100,000. A closer look revealed something much bigger: he had actually won the $1 million top prize.

His next move was to head to work and share the news with his boss.

The decision was perhaps fitting for someone who had been adding an Extra number to his plays for years. When purchasing his ticket, Perreault had specifically told the cashier, “Always with Extra, please!”

After learning he had become a millionaire, Perreault decided he was ready to leave work behind and enjoy a different pace of life.

“I’m going to enjoy my life quietly,” he said when receiving his prize at the Salon de jeux de Québec.

The winning ticket was purchased at Marché Express at 9335 Boulevard de l’Ormière in Québec City. The retailer will receive a $10,000 commission, representing 1% of the $1 million prize.
